Becoming a ski instructor in Canada - Josh Stolton - Blog 1

Ever considered becoming a ski instructor? Josh Stolton is off to Nakiska Resort in Canada in the next week to become an EA ski instructor! Check out his first blog here as he prepares for the season ahead...

About me….
This year has been a whirlwind of an experience and becoming a skiing instructor in Canada is going to top it all off. So a little about me; I’m Josh and I live in Perth, Western Australia where I am a sports addict but mainly competing and coaching in my chosen sport of Brazilian Jiu-jistu. But for the past 6 months I have been traveling all around Europe on my own, seeing and doing some amazing things, but it’s now time to rip up the slopes and shred some powder in Nakiska, Canada. As I write this, I'm sat at a hostel in London waiting in anticipation, double and triple checking I have everything before I board my flight out of here.

Why you want to become a snow sports instructor…
Becoming a snow sports instructor for me is a dream job, what better way to make a living but turn a hobby into a profession, to ski every day and to get paid for it. A job much like my last, but this time I can travel, see the world: another one of my hobbies.

What you are looking forward to most about spending a winter in the snow…
On a cold, snowy day on top of the mountain, after passing acres of snow covered pine trees on the long ride up to the top of the gondola what would be more perfect? For most it may be a hot chocolate in a mountain café looking out the window at the snowflakes falling, with a raging wood burning fire next to them. But not me, I'd rather look outside, see my office and get out there on my skis to take full advantage of the fresh snow covered slopes.

Why you chose to train with EA…..
The reasons I choose to train with EA as opposed to any other organization, is that they have a great work ethic, are very dedicated, and offer competitive prices in some of the best resorts around the world. You get the feeling that you’re part of a big team as soon as you start communicating with them; they give you the support you need, and answer any questions you have. By doing this, the program is all worked out for you, so all you have to do is turn up, pass the course, start working, and party hard!

The one item you are packing that you just can’t leave behind…
The one item I definitely will not be leaving behind is my GoPro. This is so I can document all of my wild adventures on the slopes in Nakiska. I'm sure it will be turned on 24/7 so I capture all the sick activities on and off the slopes the crew and I from EA will get up to. Stay tuned for my next blog.
Whoop whoop!!!
