Ski instructor course blog from Hugh, his ski instructor course exclusive to EA has instructor training and a guaranteed job offer.
My Lake Louise Canada ski instructor course (internship) kicked off with a bang! In a flash I had my last night in Melbourne with my close friends and after farewell (for now) I was on my way to Vancouver. Before I could really gather what I had gotten myself into I was looking for the EA team, and faced with a 7-foot tall dude with a 1-foot tall mohawk! Next thing I’m off to the Landmark hotel in a limousine.
6.45pm. I wake up and after the realisation that it’s actually all happening, pull my clothes on and run downstairs for a night out with the EA group. The first night in Vancouver we spend drinking at a brilliant restaurant and getting to know one another. Football (soccer) or rugby was the hot topic, with a few Aussies arguing AFL. After a relaxed dinner at moxies and easing into the change in environment and temperature, a group of us head out to discover Vancouver town. Every street was illuminated in Christmas lights and signs, and it was cold. Talking to locals we quickly found that Granville Street was the place to be. After a brisk walk to Grandville, we ducked into the first place we could find; A hard rock, ski bar. The first night was spent meeting new people from all around the world and adjusting to the new setting.
The next day was crazy. Early breakfast at the top floor panoramic restaurant at the Landmark we really were up on cloud nine. We quickly navigated downtown Vancouver working out bank accounts, tax numbers and mobiles phones. And we quickly developed independence. The remainder of the day was spent seeking out all the best ski and board shops and the best gear, before another night out with the group.
I don’t know how I woke up the following morning. Still without stopping to think, we were on our way to Calgary!
