I have had a busy few weeks, balancing University assessments and organising my move to Castle Mountain Resort in Canada as an EA Snowboard Instructor Intern. I am also fortunate enough to be leaving Australia on a high with best man duties at my friends wedding next Saturday. All this has kept me pre-occupied and focused but with only 2 weeks to go it is finally starting to sink in that I will be trading in my Surfboard for a Snowboard as soon as I know it!

I’m Jordan, I’m heading to Castle this winter to be an EA Brand Ambassador and to get qualified as a Snowboard Instructor!

I am fortunate enough to have a bit of downtime in Vancouver and Banff for the week prior to starting my EA Snowboard Internship Ultimate Plus program. I plan to do some sightseeing and a few days of skiing/snowboarding at Nakiska, Lake Louise and Mount Norquay, other resorts that will have other EA interns carving up the slopes.

The VISA process for Canada is quite straight forward providing that you read the step-by-step guide they provide on the Visit Canada website. Even though the VISA process is a bit of a formality I would suggest to future interns to get onto it a bit earlier than what I did so that they have the piece of mind of knowing that the VISA is approved before booking flights, insurance and buying ski equipment. Its also important to keep in mind that the VISA application had to be submitted by the end of September and the processing time for a working VISA is up to eight weeks, although mine only took around three. There were only a few tricky bits in the process but my EA rep was more than happy to assist with any uncertainties.

I am also completing my University practicum degree (in Sports Science) in conjunction with my internship which will allow me to reflect on my learnings in more detail and get the most our of the internship. I am also looking at the possibility of adding an additional Level 1 Ski exam to my level 1 and 2 snowboard qualifications. All this will add up to what I expect to be a busy but fun few months on the crazy slopes of Castle!
