Can You Become A Ski Instructor With No Experience?
You don't need to be the best skier or snowboarder on the mountain to become an instructor. It's one of the most common questions we get asked, and the answer is simpler than most people think. You don't need to be charging double blacks or throwing mad airs. You just need to be comfortable on snow, stoked to be on the hill, and willing to put the work in. What you actually need is a solid intermediate ability, a real love for the mountain, and the drive to show up ready. EA Ski and Snowboard Training gives you the tools, the coaching, and the support to become a confident and competent instructor. You just have to show up ready.
Most people who join our courses feel exactly the same way going in. The nerves are normal and the doubt is normal. What happens on the mountain is not what they expected.

So What Does Intermediate Actually Mean?
Intermediate means you can link turns comfortably, get yourself down a blue or red run without too much stress, and feel at home on the mountain and hungry to improve. If you can get yourself down the mountain without scaring yourself or anyone else, you are probably more ready than you think. Our trainers like people with no bad habits so being mediocre is ideal.
EA Ski and Snowboard Training takes you from that solid intermediate base and builds you into a qualified ski or snowboard instructor in one singular season. You train with world class coaches, work on your own technique alongside your teaching skills, and sit your internationally recognised qualification at the end. The most common thing we hear from people who have done a season with us is this. I almost talked myself out of it. The doubt is real, but so is the other side of it. The qualification, the crew, the epic life on the mountain. None of that happens if you stay on the fence. Jump over it!

Anyone Can Have This Life
Tom did not grow up as a die hard snowboarder much but he wanted to give the lifestyle and the job a crack. That desire of making a living sliding down a hill on fibreglass ignited a flame. After studying accounting at uni, he wiped the slate clean and ended up at a grassroots ski field in remote New Zealand that felt like it was from the 80s. One lift. One lodge. No shops. No wifi. He snowboarded over 100 days that winter, fished at sunset, and had his eyes opened to a new way of living he never knew before.
"But I decided to throw that career prospect off a cliff and follow the joy I got from sliding down a hill on fibreglass".
He signed up, got the training, got his qualification, and there began his career as a snowboard instructor. From the Remarkables in Queenstown to tree runs and onsens in Japan. He has mates from every corner of the world and stories to tell the grandkids one day. Anyone can have this life. You just have to go for it.
