What Is It Like Teaching in Japan with EA Ski and Snowboard Training?
The locals are warm, the culture is rich, and the snow is unlike anywhere else. If that sounds like your kind of winter, we can help you get there.
Japan is not one size fits all. It is a place of tradition, culture, charm, authenticity, gastronomy, hot spring onsens, and world class riding. Powder, powder, powder. Some resorts get 15 metres of snow a season. That is taller than a four storey building.
Ask anyone who has done it and they will tell you the same thing. It changes you. Here is what it is actually like.

The Snow That Lives Up to the Hype
Japan has the magical sauce to produce the snow every skier dreams of. Light, dry, and deep.
Felix got a taste of the good stuff at Shiga Kogen. "The snow was unlike anything I had ever seen. Deep, light, and endless. Getting out on the slopes and skiing in deep powder during my lunch break was an amazing perk of the job."
This is skiing in Japan. Raw, peaceful, wild. A mountain culture that is as soulful as it is stoked. Tranquil moments, total stoke, and pow that falls and blows like feathers.

The Life That Surprises You
For a lot of instructors, Japan is not just a season, it is the start of something much bigger.
Tom Sharpe came for one season and never really left. "Somewhere in there, doing a season quietly turned into a career, and I honestly could not tell you the exact moment it happened. It is pretty wild to be living the life I was only dreaming about not that long ago."
Eve dragged herself through university and ended up teaching skiing in Hakuba. It changed everything for her. She found her dream job on a mountain in Japan, and now she is training in adaptive skiing.
Beyond the skiing, you soak in local onsens, munch on ramen, slap yennies in the vending machine, and bond with a crew of shred pals for life. You find your rhythm, your tribe, your comradeship.

The Resorts That Suit Every Rider
Japan is wonderfully unique and diverse. Here is the breakdown of some of our most sought after ski resorts to get your qualification.

Appi Kogen: Still somehow a secret. Voted Japan's Best Ski Resort in 2022 and 2023.
Rusutsu: The tree-skiing capital of Japan. Also for the hardcore backcountry crew.

Ski and Snowboard Instructor Jobs in Japan: Where Will Yours Take You?
Japan is not one size fits all, and neither are we. And it does not stop at one season. Some people stick around, move up the ranks, and end up training the next wave of instructors, running a ski school, or guiding in the backcountry. The path past that first winter is there if you want it.
